Created in the post-World War II era, the Artists Association of Nantucket has showcased fine art in a range of projects from school-age students to professional works for almost 75 years. AAN has developed a museum-quality collection of historical island art and furthered their mission of fostering visual art on Nantucket by promoting, supporting and encouraging the work of Nantucket artists, providing educational programs in the arts, and preserving the legacy of Nantucket artists. I have been painting ever since I can remember. I have always been inspired by the delicate intricacies that make up the magical patterns of nature. I love to garden and I gather inspiration from the flowers, fern, fauna, butterflies, insects, patterns and colors; they all play a special role in my work. I have been featured in such publications as Modern Bride, Seventeen Magazine, Traditional Home, Redbook Magazine, Child Magazine, House Beautiful, Country Home, Home and Garden Nantucket, Yesterday's Island, Well Wed, and Victoria Magazine. My unique style of Folk Art has been exhibited in a solo window exhibition at The Museum Of American Folk Art in New York City in both the Lincoln Center and Rockefeller Center locations.

Nantucket Community Television (NCTV18) is the only television channel and station that serves Nantucket. Their mission is two-fold: 1) to provide knowledge, training, and educational interests for anyone interested in the media arts; 2) to capture and broadcast Nantucket’s rich history and cultural importance. They serve as a community public access, PEG station (public, education, and government) and a go-to resource for media arts classes and workshops for adult and youth students.

Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts

Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) has been dedicated to sharing the spirit and creativity that the Arts bring into our lives for over 40 years. NISDA offers a place to be inspired, refreshed, to create, and learn through their numerous programs for children, college-level adults, professional artists, public school students and teachers, and the Nantucket community. NISDA is a year-round cultural and arts educational institution and an arts resource center on Nantucket whose mission is to explore the connections of the arts, sciences, humanities, and the environment, and to enhance education, community and quality of life through the arts. NISDA's campus is comprised of two properties where its programs and support services take place: Seaview Farm Art Center (23 Wauwinet Road) and the NISDA O.A.R. - Offshore Artist Residencies (55 Wauwinet Road) both in beautiful, scenic Wauwinet. Seaview Farm, home to the only two remaining silos on the island is historically significant to Nantucket both agriculturally and culturally. NISDA hosts an annual Sand Castle and Sculpture Contest held at Jetties beach each summer. This year's event will be held on July 3oth 2022. All are welcome to participate and observe! Pete's Fresh Fish Prints

Gyotaku is the Oriental art of creating prints of genuine fish on delicate rice paper. This artform captures and reproduces the exact characteristics and features of an individual fish. First practiced in the early 1800's in Asia, Gyotako provided an accurate means of measuring and recording a commercial fisherman’s actual catch. “Gyo” translates to “fish” and “taku” means “stone rubbing” in Japanese. Pete has expressed a variety of compositions, textures and colors through this unique artform, breaking through yet keeping with the traditional boundaries of this historic medium. Modern Gyotaku is a recognized form of art today and offers a creative, sophisticated alternative to physically mounting your fish with traditional taxidermy. Don't settle for imitations. Pete offers you the ONLY Gyotaku prints that are true Nantucket Natives. The fish are caught and printed here on our beautiful Island! Pete grew up in central New York, on the Finger Lakes, and always had a love for fishing. At a young age, you couldn't get Pete off the water. As an avid fishermen, Pete knew that he wanted to do more. In 1986, Pete moved to Nantucket Island and worked on a lobster boat where he fell in love with the ocean all over again. Pete then married and has two beautiful children that he decided to raise on Nantucket to be surrounded by the ocean. Today, Pete has taken his love for the water and has made a name for himself on this small Island he calls home.

Robert Stark Gallery

Nantucket landscapes and marines Robert Stark (1933 - 2014) was a luminist, painting principally in oil on canvas and panel. Luminism takes its name from light and refers to the subtle coloristic effects that sunlight, ever changing in intensity, produces on land, sea and in the sky. He sees the New England coast as a place where people have lived long and worked hard and feel part of the land and sea . He attended Nantucket schools and after graduating from Nantucket High School, served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was the founder and director of Nantucket's oldest gallery, The Stark Gallery on Old North Wharf. Aside from exhibiting in his own gallery, his work can be seen in The Cavalier Gallery in Nantucket, Greenwich, CT. and NYC, the Nantucket Looms, Chatham Fine Arts, Chatham,MA and the J.Todd Gallery in Wellesley, MA. His work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections in the US, Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, Germany, France, China and the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, N.Y.

The Almanack Arts Colony

The Scrimshander Gallery

Scrimshander Gallery is a locally owned and operated art gallery located on Nantucket's bustling Centre Street featuring artist Mike Vienneau. Patrons can expect to find an array of ornate and detailed carvings in responsibly sourced ivory, with many pieces incorporating other nautical materials like shells. These pieces are created using an increasingly rare, historical technique called Scrimshaw that dates back hundreds of years.
