Relive the District

Nantucket is pretty old, older than the United States itself, in fact. Nantucket was incorporated in 1687, bought in 1641 and settled in 1659 when Thomas Macy led a group of Quakers to found a settlement near Capaum. A large number of historic buildings are preserved from our whaling era which begun in the early 18th century.

If you’re here now, chances are, you’re already standing on some historic ground. Some of our island’s past has been preserved and studied while others are still in operation to this day. Stop by the historic Thomas Macy Warehouse on Straight Wharf to view one our interactive event kiosks.
